Frequently Asked Questions

My order has not arrived... what should I do?

You should have received confirmation that the order was dispatched, usually within 48 hours of your order coming in. If not, email us.

From dispatch it takes typically 2–3 working days for books to get to addresses in the UK, 3–7 working days in the EU and 5–12 working days for North America, Australasia and the Far East. We lose < 1% of international orders. If you are well over the expected delivery date email us.

Deliveries to Latin America: unfortunately due to problems with postal services in Brazil and Argentina we cannot send books to South America by post.  We can still send books by courier but these are much more expensive.  Let us know what you want to buy and we can quote for delivery email us

What is the tracking number for my order?

To keep costs down we use regular mail via Royal Mail and Air Mail for overseas. The downside is that to add a tracking number would put the price up massively. For deliveries to Russia, South America and a few other places we are starting to recommend courier services at an extra cost.

Can I pay without using PayPal or a credit card?

Yes. By UK cheque made payable to ‘Cogan & Mater Ltd’ and sent to the address at the bottom of this page.

By direct bank transfer in UK pounds sterling to:

Cogan and Mater Limited
Sort code 20-60-38
Account no. 10380318
IBAN GB60 BARC 2060 3810 3803 18

but please email us to tell us that you are doing this.

Direct bank transfers in Euros can be arranged to our ING bank account in Belgium by agreement. Email us to get details of the price and set this up.

Also in some parts of the world, including the US, PayPal will accept some payments that do not involve credit cards.

Can you service bulk orders?

Yes. Provided we have stock, we can ship orders of any size to almost anywhere on the planet. Email us using a nice enticing heading in the Subject box.

Is Cogan & Mater interested in selling other beer books?

Yes. But only if they suit our profile. We are only interested in books about beer, or places to drink it. We are always interested in well-researched books that direct readers to the best beers or bars of a particular city, region or country. We are not interested in stocking books that rely on advertising or allow commercial businesses to buy their way in. We will even consider foreign language books. If you represent a title you think may be of interest email us and/or send a copy to the address below.

Also, we see no point in selling books that are going to be cheaper on Amazon. Good luck to the authors and publishers (and Amazon) but we will not be interested.

I have a great marketing idea for you... can I send it?

Can you? Well, we probably cannot stop you. However, if you do we will never buy anything from you, ever. Never, not once. Not even if it is the best thing we have ever seen. Is that clear enough?
